The MS program offers K-8 educators a chance to specialize in advanced pedagogical studies, curriculum design, and subject matter expertise for elementary and middle school environments, with an emphasis on developing teacher leadership. The program highlights mathematics education, science education, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) disciplines, offering both thesis and non-thesis pathways.
Our curriculum is thoughtfully structured to equip students with comprehensive understanding of educational standards, research methodologies, and teaching strategies to become highly effective educators. This degree enables teachers to enhance their instructional methods by incorporating cutting-edge research findings. Additionally, it equips participants to assume leadership positions within their schools, districts, and local communities.
Program graduates will achieve the following outcomes:
Educators will develop skills to recognize, evaluate, integrate, and generate impactful research on educational challenges and policies that influence classroom teaching (InTASC Standard 4 & 10H).
Educators will showcase proficiency in implementing research-driven instructional planning that enhances student performance in mathematics, science, and/or social studies (InTASC Standards 6 & 7).
Educators will exhibit advancement in leadership capacities within their teaching teams, schools, districts, and broader educational spheres (InTASC Standard 10).
Regular admission requires a minimum overall GPA from bachelor’s degree of 2.75 (or last half of 3.0.) The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is required by the Graduate School if the overall GPA is below 2.75.
Minimum score requirements: TOEFL: 550 (paper) or 79 (internet), IELTS: 6.5 (academic version).
