The Master of Science in Biotechnology is a non-thesis program tailored for students pursuing advanced training in molecular biology research. This curriculum prepares graduates for careers in the biotechnology industry and serves as a foundation for those considering future doctoral studies. Note that this degree is not ideal for pre-medical students, except those applying to combined M.D./Ph.D. programs.
This full-time M.S. program requires twelve graduate credits per semester plus ongoing laboratory research (including summers). Students can complete the degree in one or two years, with the accelerated option reserved for UNR biological sciences graduates currently conducting related research at the university.
