The University of Nevada, Reno's (UNR) Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology provides a rigorous, comprehensive graduate program leading to M.S. or Ph.D. degrees in biochemistry. This program prepares students to tackle biochemical challenges through molecular-level investigation and critical thinking. Faculty research spans diverse topics while maintaining a shared focus on macromolecular structures and their functions within biological systems. Students gain valuable experience working with faculty from both the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources (CABNR) and the Desert Research Institute, whose expertise covers various biomedical and life science disciplines.   • Undergraduate degree in a related area
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 for the M.S. program on a 4.0 scale
  • Combined Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores of 300 or higher.
  • If English is not your native language, students are required to have a minimum composite scores of 79 ibt. Preferred TOEFL exam scores: Reading 23, Listening 19, Speaking 23, Writing 24.
