The Master of Music in Instrumental Music Education is designed for practicing music educators. Applicants must provide a teaching demonstration video before being admitted to the program. Please note that our MM in Music Education programs do not automatically qualify graduates for teaching certification. We provide separate coursework for initial licensure in Nevada, which can be completed alongside or independently of the MM degree. Those pursuing initial certification, with or without the MM, must also complete the Professional Certificate program through the College of Education and Human Development.
This graduate program enhances instructional abilities for current music educators. Our music department holds accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), and our music education program is recognized by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). CAEP promotes excellence in teacher training through rigorous accreditation standards that ensure program quality and foster ongoing development to benefit K-12 student outcomes.
