The Graduate Certificate in Social Justice is a post-baccalaureate program offering academic graduate credit through the School of Social Research and Justice Studies within the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Nevada, Reno. This certificate is open to both current graduate students at the university and individuals who have already earned a bachelor's degree.
This graduate certificate enhances existing master's and doctoral programs by incorporating relevant courses from the School's three departments. While particularly beneficial for students in these programs, it also appeals to those in other departments across the College of Liberal Arts and other university colleges. The certificate strengthens the university's commitment to justice studies, joining established programs like The National Judicial College, the Grant Sawyer Center for Justice Studies, and various justice-focused degree programs that contribute significantly to this academic emphasis.
This program aims to equip students with a thorough grasp of inequality and social injustice's root causes and effects, while fostering the development of theoretically grounded, methodologically rigorous solutions applicable at both local and global scales.
Students who have received an undergraduate degree are eligible for admission.
Minimum score requirements: TOEFL: 550 (paper) or 79 (internet), IELTS: 6.5 (academic version).
