Within the Literacy specialization of the Ph.D. curriculum, learners build a comprehensive understanding of literacy theories and investigative methods. This track equips candidates to explore critical topics in literacy research, with potential focus areas including multilingual learners, foundational reading skills, youth and adult literacy development, and the relationship between literacy and cultural diversity. Graduates emerge qualified for academic roles in both research and instruction, as well as leadership positions in literacy-related educational fields.
The Literacy Studies concentration follows the overarching structure outlined in the program manual. This section offers broad details about the doctoral program while highlighting aspects specific to the Literacy Studies specialization.
Student must have Undergraduate and graduate GPA of 3.00 or higher.
Minimum score requirements: TOEFL: 550 (paper) or 79 (internet), IELTS: 6.5 (academic version).
