The College of Business and Information Systems Department provides an accelerated dual-degree program for earning both BS and MS qualifications. This BS/MS pathway enables high-achieving Information Systems undergraduates at the University of Nevada, Reno to complete their master's degree more efficiently. Through this program, participants will strengthen their expertise in business data analytics.
The accelerated BS/MS initiative supports exceptional Information Systems bachelor's students at UNR in achieving their master's degree faster. Participants will focus on the data analytics specialization within the MS Information Systems (MSIS) curriculum, developing competencies in statistics, information systems, and data-driven decision processes.
The information systems major combines fundamental business and management principles with technical computer skills (including programming, databases, web development, and networking) to prepare graduates for competitive careers, entrepreneurship, or advanced academic pursuits.
Program objectives
Upon completion, graduates will demonstrate the ability to:
Evaluate and specify requirements for complex information systems.
Develop and code comprehensive information systems with advanced database functionality and user-friendly interfaces.
Independently acquire new skills to remain current in the fast-changing IS field.
Collaborate effectively in team environments.
Apply industry best practices and modern tools to address organizational IS challenges.
Clearly explain system objectives, analytical components, and technical specifications to both IS specialists and non-technical stakeholders.
Create and deploy information systems that align with organizational strategies and business goals.
