Geography explores the intricate connections between people and their surroundings, along with the spatial aspects of key global issues. The undergraduate program offers four specialized tracks or a flexible general bachelor's science or arts degree in geography to match student interests.
The geotechnologies focus builds expertise in spatial analysis techniques. Students in this track master the tools, methodologies, and software needed to process and interpret geographic data. This specialization helps prepare students for GIS Professional (GISP) certification from the GIS Certification Institute. Ideal for those pursuing careers as GIS specialists, remote sensing experts, cartographers, planners, or advanced studies in geography and related spatial fields.

Qualification Requirements
To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school (GED certificate may not be used for admission) and satisfy the below requirements:
You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno. The academic courses include: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences. A weighted GPA takes into account the extra difficulty of honors, AP or IB classes.
You must submit your final, official high school transcripts to support your application for admission.
SAT/ACT scores: We do not require SAT or ACT scores for admission or scholarship consideration
