The graduate Nuclear Safeguards and Security (NSS) Certificate program offers advanced training for both graduate students and working engineers, equipping them—and their employers—with comprehensive knowledge to cultivate a highly skilled workforce. Earning the UNLV NSS Certificate demonstrates that graduates possess the necessary qualifications to pursue careers as nuclear safeguards and security engineers at NRC-licensed facilities and U.S. DOE national laboratories.
Program Objectives
Students will gain technical expertise in nuclear safeguards and security within the nuclear engineering field.
Students will develop the ability to create engineering solutions for nuclear safeguards and security using radiation detection systems, radiation sources, and data analysis methods.
Students will learn to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teams, communicate clearly with peers, and uphold ethical and professional standards.
Students will be prepared for successful careers at local or national levels, thriving in the evolving nuclear engineering industry.
