The Political Science Department provides a comprehensive Ph.D. program featuring specializations in American Politics (encompassing public policy and law), Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory. In addition to gaining expertise in these disciplines and formulating individual research projects, candidates must cultivate proficiency in the methodologies essential for political science research. The curriculum mandates 60 post-bachelor's credits or 48 post-master's credits. This program equips graduates for careers in academia (college/university positions) and alternative sectors (government agencies, corporations, and non-profits). Typically, students complete the program within five to six years.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must possess a B.A. or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.30, or M.A. or equivalent from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.50. Under special circumstances the department may consider applicants with lower GPAs.

Transcripts - One transcript from every post-secondary institution the applicant has attended (regardless of whether a degree or credential was earned), showing all coursework, extension and correspondence work, any degrees earned, and the dates that those degrees were awarded. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted as part of the application process. However, if an applicant is admitted, official transcripts will be required by the date specified on the Certificate of Admission. Transfer credits posted on another institution's transcript will not be accepted in lieu of the transcript itself. Only transcripts sent directly from the institution are considered official. Failure to disclose all coursework and/or degrees awarded will result in rescission of admission.
