The Ph.D. in Learning Sciences prepares students to investigate and assess various learning settings, particularly those involving technology. This program emphasizes creating, evaluating, and comprehending educational environments within their broader organizational and institutional frameworks. It also covers data analysis techniques and psychological principles.
Program Objectives
Graduates will achieve the following competencies:
Analyze fundamental theories concerning learning, cognitive processes, and human development.
Develop and adapt technological and traditional learning spaces to enhance educational effectiveness.
Assess research projects by examining their methods, theoretical foundations, and contributions to the field.
Apply sophisticated statistical techniques (including computational data analysis) while recognizing causation principles and potential methodological flaws in research.
Demonstrate knowledge of (a) qualitative investigation methods for educational and social phenomena, (b) practical and theoretical aspects of case studies, ethnographic research, observational methods, narrative analysis, and design-based inquiry, and (c) quality standards for qualitative research.
