The Ph.D. in Higher Education program offers flexibility, enabling students to specialize in various fields aligned with their academic and professional aspirations. Through our collaboration with educational psychology, doctoral candidates receive a blend of subject-specific and methodological training, along with research experiences covering individual leadership to institutional operations. These opportunities are structured around three key focus areas: university and community college administration, student affairs management, and higher education policy development.
Program Objectives
After finishing this degree, graduates will possess the ability to:
Apply theoretical frameworks and data analysis to decision-making processes in higher education.
Assume leadership and research roles in both two-year and four-year academic institutions.
Communicate knowledgeable viewpoints on diverse higher education topics (including policy, funding, legal matters, etc.).
Explain the historical and philosophical foundations that shaped American higher education.
Exhibit understanding of academic participation as higher education faculty members.
