The African American and African Diaspora Studies Program operates within the Interdisciplinary Studies department of the College of Liberal Arts, offering both major and minor options. This curriculum equips students with analytical frameworks while immersing them in historical context and contemporary scholarship about the African American experience. The program's foundation consists of core courses that comprehensively examine key elements of African American history, from ancient roots to modern-day concerns. By exploring both historical and current perspectives, students gain exposure to previously underrepresented materials and learn to critically analyze present-day African American issues. Additionally, the program serves as excellent preparation for students pursuing advanced studies in African American scholarship.
