The Biomedical Informatics (BMI) Doctor of Philosophy program equips future researchers with specialized knowledge to pioneer advancements in information and knowledge management for biomedical, clinical, and translational research. This program also addresses healthcare services, clinical practice, public health, and overall healthcare delivery. Graduates will possess the expertise to employ information and computing technologies in addressing challenges within the biomedical field. This collaborative PhD program in Biomedical Informatics (BMI) is jointly administered by UNO and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC).

Qualification Requirements
The Ph.D. in BMI program invites students who have a strong interest and commitment to scholarly activity and research in Biomedical Informatics to apply for the program here at UNO.
Admission to the doctoral program is competitive and based upon several factors that will show the strength of the applicant's educational background in bioinformatics, health informatics, or a closely related field:
Verbal, quantitative, and analytic scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) for aptitude
Letters of Recommendation
Detailed resume that entails the applicants work experience and background
Statement of Purpose (2 pages) that answers within what the applicant hopes to accomplish in the program and why they are applying
Other evidence of graduate potential (i.e. portfolio of quality publications and projects completed by the applicant in an academic or industry setting)
A personal interview, if warranted and feasible
Standardized Test Scores
Applicants must score 310 out of 336 on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or above the 80th percentile on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
For applicants who are required to take the TOEFL, a score of at least 577 (paper-based), 233 (computer-based), 90 (iBT), 7.0 (IELTS) or 61 (PTE) is required.
