The J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) aims to train students with robust engineering and scientific foundations, preparing them for Master's and Ph.D. degrees in biomedical engineering. BME graduates often utilize their expertise to develop engineering solutions for medical challenges. This educational goal is achieved through a foundational curriculum that fosters close partnerships between Engineering and Medicine faculty. The Ph.D. program mandates a minimum of 90 credit hours post-bachelor's degree, with a maximum of 30 transferable credits from an external master's program. For students with a non-aligned master's degree, those credits won't apply toward the Ph.D. unless the BME Department receives approval from the Graduate School Dean.
