The field of religious studies exposes students to both scholarly examination of faith and spirituality, along with diverse global religious practices (including Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Chinese spiritual traditions, and indigenous belief systems from North America and Africa). Students can also explore specialized themes like faith in cinema, spiritual wellbeing, or the intersection of religion and social justice. Given religion's profound influence on history, culture, governance, arts, and healthcare, its study proves essential for comprehending intricate worldwide challenges across time periods. Neither personal faith nor spiritual inclination is required to engage with religious studies, nor does the discipline aim to validate any single belief system. Earning a Bachelor of Arts in religion requires completing at least 30 credit hours in the subject, with a minimum of 18 credits from advanced (3000-4000 level) coursework.
