Philosophy seeks to comprehend the world in the most comprehensive and unified manner possible. Philosophers explore fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, morality, divinity, and how these elements interconnect. A key benefit of philosophical study lies in its methodological approach—rigorous reasoning, logical precision, and conceptual analysis—which proves valuable across all disciplines.
Students can pursue a philosophy major through three pathways: (1) the standard program covering essential areas like logic, ethics, and metaphysics; (2) a specialized track in philosophy of cognition and technology, examining intersections with psychology, neuroscience, and AI; or (3) a focus on moral philosophy and societal issues, addressing ethical foundations, legal principles, and environmental responsibilities. The philosophy minor provides flexible elective choices that pair well with various majors, while the interdisciplinary ethics minor serves as an excellent complement to other degree programs.
