Philosophy explores the world in the most comprehensive and unified manner possible. Philosophers seek answers to fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, morality, divinity, and how these elements interconnect. A key benefit of studying philosophy lies in its methodological approach—rigorous reasoning, logical precision, and deep conceptual analysis—which can be applied universally. The Philosophy major offers three pathways: (1) the traditional track covering core disciplines like metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and philosophical history; (2) the Brain and Mind concentration, ideal for students interested in psychology, neuroscience, cognition, or AI; and (3) the Ethics, Law, and Social/Political Philosophy concentration, tailored for those pursuing advanced studies in law, criminal justice, sustainability, or related fields. The ethics-focused concentration requires 33 credit hours, including 27 in philosophy (with 21 at upper-level courses).
