The Medical Humanities program enhances students' comprehension of illness, health, wellness, healing, and medical practices through three interconnected course clusters. This interdisciplinary major offers flexibility, mirroring both student aspirations and the evolving landscape of the field.
Medical Humanities bridges diverse disciplines to examine relationships among individuals, cultures, and healthcare systems. This field enriches Health Sciences by incorporating perspectives from Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts. Key areas of study include: wellness and disease, intersections between healthcare and identity (including gender and community), cross-cultural healing traditions, ethical considerations, the experience of suffering, and wellbeing frameworks. The minor benefits pre-medical students and those pursuing careers in nursing, social services, mental health, public health, human resources, or other healthcare professions. Just as individuals transcend clinical labels, our program extends beyond traditional academics. Become part of our dynamic network of learners, teachers, professionals, creatives, and community collaborators.
