The Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design provides graduate programs, research initiatives, and creative projects spanning fashion design, textile creation, retail merchandising, historical costume and fabric studies, quilt research, and textile technology. Students can pursue an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in human sciences with a textiles and fashion design concentration. Select classes are offered through online platforms. The department features specialized facilities including fashion design workspaces, digital and traditional textile printing areas, weaving studios, and a meticulously preserved collection of over 5,000 historical garments and textiles stored in advanced climate-controlled conditions. Additional resources comprise CAD workstations, textile analysis labs, and material processing facilities. Students gain practical experience through internships across various sectors, including corporate, governmental, and cultural institutions, along with study abroad options worldwide.
