The interdisciplinary Great Plains Studies specialization explores human-environment interactions in the region's low-population areas. Spanning from the Missouri River to the Rocky Mountains and from the Rio Grande to Canada's prairie provinces, this academic focus is coordinated by the College of Arts and Sciences through the Center for Great Plains Studies. This university-wide research and teaching hub, established by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents, serves all campuses. Graduate students pursuing degrees in various UNL programs - including Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Education, and Design disciplines - can qualify for this specialization by meeting program requirements.
