The Departments of Civil Engineering, Biological Systems Engineering, and Chemical Engineering collaborate to offer a combined Master of Science program in environmental engineering. This interdisciplinary initiative maintains strong connections with related fields, especially those concerning water environments and natural resources. Professors from all three departments provide comprehensive knowledge across the four principal environmental engineering disciplines recognized by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers: water supply systems, wastewater treatment, hazardous waste control, and solid waste handling. Additionally, students can focus on a fifth specialization area dealing with dispersed (non-point source) and agricultural waste management solutions.
