The Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design provides graduate programs focusing on apparel and textile design, merchandising, historical costume and textiles, quilt studies, and textile science. Students can pursue an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in human sciences with a textiles, merchandising and fashion design concentration. Select courses are offered through online platforms. The department features specialized facilities including design studios, digital and traditional textile printing workspaces, a preserved collection of over 5,000 historical textiles and garments stored in climate-controlled conditions, advanced CAD systems, and textile analysis labs. Students gain practical experience through internships across various sectors and can participate in both domestic and international study programs.
