The interdisciplinary Great Plains Studies specialization explores human-environment interactions in the low-population Great Plains region. This expansive area extends west from the Missouri River to the Rocky Mountains and north from the Rio Grande through Canada's prairie provinces. Administered through the College of Arts and Sciences and supported by the Center for Great Plains Studies - a university-wide interdisciplinary research and teaching center approved by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents - this program offers graduate students specialization opportunities. Eligible participants must be currently enrolled in UNL graduate programs including but not limited to: Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Anthropology/Geography, Architecture, Communication Studies, Economics, English, History, Natural Resource Sciences, and various education and design disciplines.
