The plant biology program offers undergraduate students a versatile pathway into the plant sciences. Upon joining, students complete foundational courses that prepare them to either advance in plant biology or transition smoothly to other Life Sciences disciplines. Participants can engage with faculty from the Center for Plant Science Innovation and collaborate across various departments for academic guidance and research projects. The curriculum enables students to investigate plants through multiple lenses—from molecular and cellular processes to ecological systems—incorporating evolutionary, agricultural, and horticultural viewpoints. This multidisciplinary approach involves mandatory coursework in diverse scientific areas (such as biology, biochemistry, chemistry, agronomy, and horticulture) and specialized tracks within the major (including ecology/management and biotechnology concentrations).
