Ethnic Studies delves into the investigation and analysis of elements influencing the historical and contemporary experiences of diverse ethnic communities. The Institute for Ethnic Studies operates across academic disciplines and colleges, concentrating on African-American, Latino/a, and Native populations in the U.S. and globally. Students can pursue either a major or minor in Ethnic Studies (detailed below). Additionally, specialized minors are offered in African Studies, African-American Studies (refer to African and African-American Studies), U.S. Latina/Latino Studies (see Latino and Latin American Studies), and Native American Studies (listed separately). Both major and minor programs are available in Latin American Studies (see Latino and Latin American Studies).
