The English Department aims to cultivate students' abilities in critical analysis, composition, and reasoning. Furthermore, we strive to nurture creative thinking—what we describe as employing imagination to contemplate hypothetical scenarios across time and space, encompassing historical, contemporary, and future contexts, from local to international perspectives. This capacity, developed through examining varied literary and cinematic works, critically assessing language, and producing original creative pieces, empowers students to meaningfully interact with societal, cultural, and political issues. It equips learners to reconsider possibilities and devise bold approaches to apparently intractable challenges. Creative thinking, as both a principle and competency, fosters human connection and inspires us to transcend limitations, including those of our individual perspectives and closest circles.
