The College provides undergraduate programs that culminate in a Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences degree across over 40 distinct teaching specializations. Students from other University of Nebraska-Lincoln colleges may opt to pursue certification, earning their degree in their primary college while fulfilling all teacher certification requirements through the College of Education and Human Sciences. A distinctive feature of the College's teacher education program is its early field placements in both public and private schools, which have gained national recognition. Although internships benefit many students' academic journeys, the College of Education and Human Sciences considers practicum experiences and student teaching as fundamental components of its curriculum, requiring successful completion. Failure to complete these field experiences, regardless of the reason, could negatively affect a candidate's admission to the College or continued enrollment in a teacher preparation program. Students who face challenges in completing field experiences may receive guidance to explore alternative pathways with greater potential for success. (Refer to the Felony and Misdemeanor Conviction and Criminal History Background Check Requirement section under OTHER for further details regarding behaviors that may affect participation in field experiences.)
