Students who earn this field endorsement become qualified to instruct history, anthropology, economics, geography, political science, psychology, and sociology for grades 7 through 12. The College provides undergraduate programs that culminate in a Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences degree across more than 40 distinct teaching endorsements. Certain students from other University of Nebraska-Lincoln colleges may pursue certification, earning a degree from their home college while fulfilling all teacher certification requirements through the College of Education and Human Sciences. Early classroom placements in public and private schools serve as a nationally recognized strength of the College's teacher education program. Although internships benefit many students' academic journeys, practicum experiences and student teaching form an indispensable component of the College of Education and Human Sciences curriculum, requiring successful completion. Failure to complete these field experiences, for any reason, may hinder a candidate's admission to the College or continued enrollment in a teacher preparation program. Students facing challenges in completing field experiences may receive guidance to explore alternative pathways where they can achieve greater success. (Refer to the Criminal History Background Check Requirement and Professional and Ethical Behavior sections under OTHER for details regarding conduct affecting field experience eligibility.)
