The actuarial science program falls under the finance department within the College of Business. Undergraduate courses are available to students pursuing majors or minors in both the College of Business and the College of Arts and Sciences (ASC). When selecting a college, students should weigh factors like their additional academic interests, each college's core requirements, and available scholarship or financial aid opportunities. The program provides coursework aligned with the Society of Actuaries (SOA) educational standards (www.soa.org), preparing students for professional exams in Probability (P), Financial Mathematics (FM), Actuarial Models - Financial Economics (MFE), Actuarial Models - Life Contingencies (MLC), and Construction and Evaluation of Actuarial Models (C). The University of Nebraska also offers VEE-approved courses in Economics, Corporate Finance, and Applied Statistics. Actuarial science students are encouraged to leverage program benefits such as summer internships, career advising, employment assistance, and involvement in the Actuarial Science Club.
