The Toxicology Graduate Program unites faculty from the Center for Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS) who share a common biomedical focus: enhancing human health by deepening our understanding of how environmental factors contribute to or worsen diseases. Researchers primarily concentrate on acute and chronic inflammation as key drivers behind numerous human illnesses. This collaborative approach strengthens the ability of both faculty and students to secure multi-investigator grants and comprehensive funding opportunities like program projects, center grants, and training grants. Faculty members have effectively established diverse strategies for teamwork, leading to more joint publications that support multi-PI grant proposals. As part of the Molecular and Biomedical Sciences Umbrella, this is one of six coordinated programs. CEHS faculty from the Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Department of Chemistry, and the Division of Biological Sciences provide advanced training in molecular and cellular toxicology for both Ph.D. and M.S. candidates. Financial support comes from various sources including COBRE, teaching and research assistantships, and individual fellowships.
