The Medicinal Chemistry program aims to advance knowledge in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences via research, education, and career growth. This graduate program focuses on studying small molecules to uncover the molecular connections and disease mechanisms related to neurological disorders, cancer, and pain management. It operates under the Molecular and Biomedical Sciences Umbrella alongside five other programs, dedicated to serving both local communities and the global scientific field.
Our Medicinal Chemistry graduate program's purpose is to create and produce small molecule ligands that facilitate protein structure and function analysis. Through SAR studies, molecular modeling, and computational approaches, we develop highly targeted compounds for improved biomolecular target analysis. Using these small molecule frameworks, we produce specialized tools like fluorescent tags, irreversible binders, and radioactive tracers for applications in PET imaging, pharmacological research, and clinical development. What sets this program apart is its distinctive focus on neuroscience and business training within medicinal chemistry.
