The Master of Science program provides concentrations in inorganic, organic, physical chemistry, and analytical/environmental chemistry. Students complete a comprehensive core curriculum along with advisor-approved elective courses. Both thesis and non-thesis tracks exist, with the thesis path being strongly encouraged. The University of Montana's chemistry graduate program emphasizes direct mentorship between students and faculty who are both active researchers and dedicated educators. This collaborative approach starts in intimate classroom settings, typically with just 3-8 students, fostering dynamic exchanges. Professors maintain an open-door policy for student guidance. The curriculum thoroughly covers essential chemistry principles while also exploring cutting-edge research topics at the discipline's forefront.
