The Chemistry Department provides graduate programs for both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Students can pursue research across diverse modern chemistry fields, spanning organic, inorganic, bioinorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry. Details about possible research initiatives can be found on faculty members' individual websites. The curriculum prepares scientists to conduct autonomous research with limited guidance within a chemistry specialization and effectively share findings through oral presentations and written publications to fellow researchers.
MS Program Learning Objectives
Graduates will exhibit core competency in their chosen chemistry specialization.
Graduates will show familiarity with modern research techniques relevant to their field.
Graduates will effectively present research motivations and preliminary findings in public settings.
Graduates will conduct self-directed studies, interpret findings, and properly handle and share data under advisory supervision as evaluated by their research advisor.
Graduates will produce publishable manuscripts for academic journals and complete an approved thesis documenting their research.
