The Master of Arts in Theatre program caters to students aiming for doctoral studies, as well as seasoned secondary or community college educators looking to deepen their academic knowledge in theatre. This MA program features foundational studies in performance theory, dramaturgy, theatre literature, and history, while allowing specialization in a selected research field. Students can opt for either a conventional written thesis or a blended approach combining performance-based research with a condensed written component. The curriculum offers diverse course options from the School of Theatre and Dance, the College of the Arts and Media, and other university departments, all selected with guidance from faculty advisors.

Qualification Requirements

To be granted full admission, applicants must hold the equivalent of a U.S. baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. Usually transcripts will be evaluated by the Graduate School, however, in unusual circumstances, the University may require applicants to submit their credentials to an outside agency before an admission decision will be made. Applicants whose native language is not English must submit an acceptable English language proficiency test score. For applicants whose native language is not English, the applicant must have a minimum TOEFL IBT (IBT Home Edition also accepted) 80, IELTS - 6.5
