The Educational Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) in Educational Leadership is an advanced program for professionals seeking top-tier leadership roles. This post-master's qualification involves at least 30 credit hours of 500-600 level EDLD courses (not counting Comprehensive Exam and Professional Paper credits). During their final semester or after finishing coursework, students must complete the Comprehensive Exam (EDLD 594), featuring four essay-style questions with responses limited to four double-spaced pages each (12-point font). Exam submissions are due to the department office seven days before semester's end, with one retake allowed under Graduate School policy D3.400.
Graduation also requires a Professional Paper on an advisor-approved topic involving action research or extensive literature review. Candidates must complete 6 credits of EDLD 599 (Professional Paper) through field research or scholarly review, with advisor consultation and potential research approvals needed throughout the process.
