CMMB's core purpose is to drive fundamental and applied research while offering outstanding education and training for graduate students within a dynamic, cooperative setting. Our scientists integrate genomic, biochemical, cellular, genetic, and computational methods with advanced imaging and molecular technologies, equipping them with diverse, state-of-the-art expertise. CMMB faculty consistently secure external funding and are dedicated to nurturing our existing community of researchers, postdocs, and students while attracting top-tier new talent.
Mirroring biology's vast scope, CMMB hosts an energetic faculty tackling contemporary challenges through varied methodologies and model systems. Though our research spans diverse areas, we share a common goal: uncovering biology's fundamental principles through pioneering studies. Our investigations encompass cellular signaling, protein transport, immune responses, aging processes, behavioral genetics, and disease mechanisms—including cancer, Lyme disease, Rift Valley fever, cytomegalovirus infections, and Q fever. Furthermore, CMMB researchers are exploring cutting-edge topics in genome dynamics and RNA biology, fields experiencing rapid expansion.
