Chemical Biology research at UC Riverside covers a wide spectrum at the intersection of chemistry and biology. The primary goal involves creating and utilizing chemical methods and instruments to investigate and modify biological processes. Key research areas encompass combinatorial chemistry, protein and nucleic acid engineering, DNA damage studies, biosensor development (both optical and electrochemical), theoretical and experimental analysis of biological dynamics, spectroscopic examination of biological systems, and biomolecular structural biology. The Chemistry Department maintains strong partnerships with other departments including Biochemistry, Cell Biology and Neuroscience, Botany and Plant Science, Entomology, and the Institute for Integrative Genome Biology.
