Explore the nature of matter through a Physics degree.
Physicists study fundamental forces, particles, and the resulting states of matter that shape our physical universe. A physics education enhances quantitative reasoning and problem-solving abilities, equipping students to tackle complex challenges. This provides a robust quantitative foundation applicable across technical disciplines.
The BS in Physics with a General Physics emphasis prepares students for professional careers in physics or related fields, as well as graduate studies. Additional focus areas include Astrophysics, Biophysics, and Engineering Physics.
Program Outcomes and Career Prospects
Graduates of the BS in Physics program will: demonstrate comprehension of core physics principles spanning classical mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum physics, and modern electronics; design and execute physics experiments while evaluating and interpreting results; understand cutting-edge physics research in areas like materials science or nanotechnology; develop strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills for scientific challenges; effectively communicate scientific findings; collaborate on original research projects; and identify potential data errors while assessing result significance.
