We facilitate internships at external labs, the St Louis Zoo, Missouri Botanical Gardens, Butterfly House, World Bird Sanctuary, and Donald Danforth Plant Sciences Center.
Access to advanced facilities. Perform research in our modern laboratories and utilize resources at the renowned Whitney R. Harris World Ecology Center, dedicated to biodiversity conservation through research and education.
Guidance from leading experts. Learn from faculty actively involved in funded research while benefiting from small class sizes that foster personalized academic and career mentorship.
As a UMSL biology student, you'll participate in dynamic coursework, laboratory investigations, and field studies.
Select between our Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Biology programs. Both degrees share core curriculum and general education requirements, with the BA focusing more on humanities and the BS offering deeper scientific exploration, lab work, and communication training.
Regardless of degree path, you can specialize in cell/molecular biology, ecology/evolution/conservation, or pre-professional/health sciences.
