In the 1940s, MU launched its inaugural standalone master's and PhD programs focused on speech-language pathology and audiology. The university's Speech-Language Pathology master's program has maintained uninterrupted accreditation from the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology since 1966. This program also supports a vibrant local branch of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association.
