The Department of Ancient Mediterranean Studies provides graduate programs culminating in Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The faculty welcomes applications from dedicated students with strong academic backgrounds who have developed an understanding of classical studies' diverse nature and wish to establish their own niche in the field. While proficiency in Latin and Greek is preferred, Missouri's MA program particularly supports students who began studying these languages later and require accelerated learning opportunities.
The PhD program mandates at least 72 graduate credit hours, with up to 30 transferable from an MA degree. Students must complete an additional 12 graduate-level hours within the department, plus a minimum of eight dissertation credit hours.
