To earn this certificate, students must complete 13 credit hours of coursework from different departments. Each course requires a minimum grade of C-, and students must maintain an overall 2.0 GPA for certificate-eligible courses. All writing-intensive courses must be taken at the University of Missouri. The certificate requirements include:
- Completing 6 extra writing-intensive credit hours beyond degree requirements (totaling 12 credit hours)
- Finishing the online Writing Intensive Capstone course (1 credit hour)
- Selecting writing-intensive courses from at least two different academic departments
