The Philosophy Department has introduced a new Certificate program in Ethical Theory and Practice. This program caters to diverse students interested in exploring ethical principles and their real-world applications. Health professionals, veterinary students, and environmental science majors can benefit by examining ethical dilemmas relevant to their fields. Future lawyers may explore the moral underpinnings of legal systems. Many students believe this credential enhances their career prospects or graduate school applications.
To earn the Certificate, students must complete 12 credits from Philosophy Department courses focused on ethics. No prerequisites exist for enrollment. Courses can be taken at any level, though 4000-level classes require sophomore status. The department recommends completing two philosophy courses before attempting 4000-level work. Unlike a minor, this Certificate serves students not pursuing full degrees.
