The Bachelor of Science in Physics program equips students for immediate entry into scientific professions or advanced studies in graduate school. Those enrolled in this program can obtain comprehensive physics knowledge or focus on specific disciplines such as condensed matter physics, optics, computational physics, biophysics, astronomy, and more.
For astronomy enthusiasts, there's an option to earn a BS in Physics with an Astronomy Emphasis. This track requires completion of the same core courses as the standard BS degree, plus four (4) astronomy-focused physics electives from the following options:
Astronomy 3010: Introduction to Modern Astrophysics (mandatory)
Astronomy 4020: Astrophysical Techniques
Astronomy 4350: Galactic Astronomy
Astronomy 4360: Extragalactic Astronomy
Astronomy 4450: Introduction to Cosmology
Astronomy 4460: Interstellar Medium
Astronomy 4950: Undergraduate Research in Astronomy (subject to approval)
Astronomy 4960: Senior Thesis (subject to approval)
