Women's and Gender Studies is an interdisciplinary area that examines gender, sexuality, race, class, and disability as key frameworks for analyzing social systems, cultural practices, and power relations. Drawing on methodologies from both humanities and social sciences, the WGST program enhances analytical abilities, writing proficiency, and research capabilities while valuing diverse knowledge systems and fostering global citizenship awareness. WGST academics generate various scholarly, artistic, and advocacy projects that explore interconnected systems of inequality and marginalization across different cultural and geographical settings.

Upon completing a concentration in Women's and Gender Studies, graduates will demonstrate the following competencies:

Utilize intercultural and global perspectives when examining gender-related issues
Demonstrate thorough understanding of intersectionality and power structures
Engage in critical analysis: examining topics from various viewpoints, assessing diverse sources, and practicing self-reflection
Develop evidence-based arguments through research
Participate effectively in team environments
Identify and challenge biased language and thought patterns
Bridge academic concepts with real-world applications, connecting theory to practice and integrating WGST principles across disciplines
Express ideas clearly through written and oral communication
Apply learning to promote social change and civic engagement
