The Chemical Engineering and Materials Science (CEMS) Department provides graduate-level courses encompassing fundamental aspects of materials science and engineering, such as material structures and symmetry, thermodynamic principles and reaction rates, as well as electronic, optical, magnetic, and mechanical characteristics of materials. The curriculum also features specialized subjects like rheology, coating technology basics, systems control, computational analysis using finite element methods, ceramics, polymer science, material design and evaluation, fabrication techniques, corrosion studies, surface and fracture mechanics, electron microscopy, thin-film technologies, composite materials, electrochemical processes, solid-state kinetics, material electronic configurations, organic semiconductors, electronic ceramics, defect structures, thin-film deposition methods, and porous material science. The professional Master of Materials Science and Engineering (M.Mat.S.E.) program caters to working professionals pursuing part-time studies, requiring a design project component. Alternatively, part-time students may opt for the coursework-only M.S.Mat.S.E. Plan C option.
