Social and administrative pharmacy (SAPH) involves applying behavioral and interdisciplinary theories to address pharmacy challenges and enhance system development. It examines how social, psychological, political, legal, policy, historical, and economic influences affect medication usage, avoidance, and misuse.
The Social and Administrative Pharmacy Program equips students to research connections between biological, physical, and social factors in medication-related contexts. This adaptable interdisciplinary curriculum draws from various University departments, potentially incorporating coursework in public health, aging studies, business, sociology, psychology, and policy studies.
The program emphasizes generating and sharing innovative findings to promote proper medication use for better health outcomes across individuals and communities. Students receive training and guidance to develop as research professionals. Graduates gain expertise in performing rigorous studies and solving problems by integrating specialized knowledge, theoretical frameworks, and methodological approaches.
Anyone who has or will obtain a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the U.S. or a comparable degree from an officially recognized college or university outside the U.S. may apply for graduate admission.
The preferred undergraduate GPA for admittance to the program is 3.00.
