The Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems program equips students with essential knowledge, critical thinking abilities, and leadership skills to tackle intricate and often debated issues within food systems. This major is ideal for those motivated to develop environmentally sound, economically viable, and socially equitable systems across various contexts and scales.

The curriculum's foundation starts with a food systems overview, followed by a three-course sequence that examines food system structures and interactions, teaches life cycle assessment methods for evaluating sustainability impacts, and compares conventional, sustainable, and organic crop production models. The program concludes with a hands-on capstone project addressing actual community food system challenges while engaging students in forward-thinking system design and innovation.
