The computer engineering program aims to train students in fundamental concepts and diverse specialties within the field, equipping them with professional qualities that define a skilled engineer and responsible community member, while offering research opportunities at a premier computer engineering institution. Computer engineering emerged from the rapid advancement of computing technology, especially microprocessor evolution. Nearly all electronic systems today require microprocessor control program specification and development during their design phase. Careers in computer engineering may focus more on hardware or software aspects, or involve system-level versus component-level design. While the B.Comp.Eng. degree establishes a foundation for various computer engineering specialties through further education, the undergraduate program itself doesn't deliver expert-level specialization in any specific area.
